A world record breaker launches Acre Hall’s new outdoor sports facility

Guinness world record-breaking professional freestyle footballer, Rebaz Mohammed, went ‘back to school’ to celebrate the official launch of our new sports pitch.

At the event on Wednesday 12 July, Rebaz delighted pupils by showcasing and teaching them a number of new skills. Sports leaders from Wellacre Academy and dancers from Altrincham Grammar School for Girls led basketball and dance sessions with pupils too.

The new facility has already had a huge impact enabling pupils to play a variety of sports in all weathers. Mr Catherall, Head of School, said: “This is a very exciting time for us all here at Acre Hall, the new pitch enables children to participate in a wider range of sports, which form a major part of the PE and PSHE curriculum, as well as many extra-curricular activities, all-year round.

“Importantly, having access to this facility enables children to regain focus on both their physical and mental health. The new multi-use pitch is something that has been planned for some time, and now, thanks to Bright Futures, we are delighted to be able to celebrate it today. From the children at breakfast club to those participating in competitive sports after school, and everything in between, this facility brings huge benefits for the Acre Hall family and beyond.”

Acre Hall pupils proudly closed the event by singing two rousing anthems; ‘Jambo Bwana’ and ‘Power In Me’, ably led by Music teacher, Mrs August. The group were joined by all pupils for the grand finale – which was wonderful!
