Promoting Emotional Wellbeing at Acre Hall Primary School

We are delighted to share with you that as a school we have been formally recognised for our engagement with the ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) programme, supported by the Trafford Educational Psychology Service. A special congratulations goes to Mrs Claire Zielinski, who has now successfully completed her ELSA training. Claire is now a fully qualified Emotional Literacy Support Assistant and will be working with children across the school to deliver individual and small group sessions focused on a range of emotional needs. ELSA sessions are designed to help children understand and manage their emotions; develop self-confidence and resilience, strengthen social and friendship skills and learn positive ways to handle challenges

These sessions are run in a calm, supportive environment, offering a safe space for pupils to talk, reflect, and grow. Claire will also receive ongoing half-termly supervision from Educational Psychologists, ensuring that our provision remains effective, up to date, and in line with best practice. We are incredibly proud of Mrs Zielinski’s dedication and of Acre Hall’s growing capacity to offer meaningful, child-centred support. This reflects our wider school ethos of nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Year 4 Learn about Buddhism with a special Visitor!

Today in Year 4, we were delighted to welcome one of Acre Hall’s parents, who kindly volunteered his time to talk to the children about Buddhism.

The students learned about the importance of meditation, explored special books used in Buddhist practice, and discovered the use of prayer beads in helping focus during meditation. It was a fascinating and enriching session—thank you for sharing your knowledge and giving our pupils a deeper understanding of this world religion!

Sensory Circuit and Den Making!

Sensory Circuit Fun & New Den-Making Sessions!

At Acre Hall, we are always looking for creative ways to support our children’s development – physically, emotionally and socially. As part of our Sensory Circuit sessions, the children have been engaging in a variety of activities designed to support regulation, focus and readiness for learning. We are excited to share some wonderful photos capturing the fun and energy of these sessions!

In addition to our sensory circuits, we have recently introduced Den Making during break and lunchtime—and it has been a huge hit! Children have loved using their imagination, teamwork and problem-solving skills to build their very own dens using a range of materials. Not only is this a fantastic sensory and social experience, but it also gives pupils a sense of ownership and achievement during their playtime.

We are so proud of the creativity and cooperation we’ve seen, and we look forward to developing this activity further as part of our inclusive and engaging play provision.

Stay tuned for more updates and photos!
