Acre Hall Achieves School Games Platinum Mark Award 2024/2025

We are delighted to announce that we Acre Hall have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements this year include:

  • Rounders Winners 24/25
  • Girls Euros Tournament Winners 24/25
  • Participating and placing in 15 other inter-school competitions including: Netball, Dodgeball, Athletics, Gymnastics, Multi-skills, Tri-golf, Tag Rugby, Football

With over 200 of our pupils competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of them for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to Miss Williams our PE/Sports Lead and the whole staff team who made it all possible.

We look forward to applying once again in 2026!

Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteers!

Today, we came together as a school community to celebrate and show our heartfelt gratitude to some of our most valued supporters—our fantastic volunteers from Intergen and our much-loved Grani Pat.

Throughout the year, Mrs Ewan and Mrs Macdonald from Intergen have dedicated their time each week to support our pupils with reading. Their encouragement, patience and genuine love of books have made a lasting impact on the confidence and progress of so many of our children. Meanwhile, Grani Pat has brought our garden to life – literally! Through her hands-on gardening sessions, she has helped students develop a love for the outdoors, taught them how to grow their own food, and brought excitement and wonder to our school garden.

To say thank you, our Key Stage 1 students hosted a lively and joyful celebration in their honour. The children presented our wonderful volunteers with flowers, chocolates and beautifully signed cards to show just how much their kindness and commitment have meant to us all.

It was a truly special moment to reflect on the positive influence these incredible ladies have had on our school. Their time, energy, and warmth are appreciated more than words can say.

From everyone at Acre Hall – thank you Mrs Ewan, Mrs Macdonald, and Grani Pat – you have made a great difference, and we are so lucky to have you as part of our school family.

Acre Hall Students become Published Authors!

This week marked a wonderful celebration of creativity and achievement at Acre Hall, as our Key Stage 2 pupils reached a very special milestone in their writing journeys.

We were delighted to welcome back local author Mr Pieriono Gattei—known to our students as Mr Pev – founder of Sunlight Books. Earlier this year, Mr Pev set our pupils an exciting challenge: to write and edit their very own short stories, with the aim of having them published in a real book!

Mr Pev, who writes both children’s and adult literature, worked closely with the students, helping them to refine, edit and elevate their stories through workshops and personalised feedback. Thanks to their hard work and Mr Pev’s support, we are incredibly proud to announce that 32 of our students’ stories have now been professionally published – a huge increase from last year’s total of 20! We can’t wait to see what next year’s young authors will create – we are aiming for even more published stories in 2026!

To celebrate, we held a special publishing assembly today, where every student who took part received their own copy of the published book to take home and treasure. Our top three writers were also awarded special vouchers, generously provided by Mr Pev. A heartfelt thank you for this thoughtful gesture.

🏆 Congratulations to Our Top Three Writers!

Year 5 & 6 Shine in End-of-Year Performance!

This week, our talented Year 5 and Year 6 students took to the stage for their much-anticipated end-of-year performance, held on Tuesday and Wednesday here at Acre Hall.

Led by Mr Stevenson, who dedicated his time and energy to directing and organising the show, the pupils delivered a fantastic performance filled with confidence, expression and enthusiasm. From singing and acting to teamwork behind the scenes, every student played their part brilliantly. It was a joy to welcome so many parents and carers into school to watch the production and share in the celebration. The room was full of smiles, laughter and proud moments as the children took centre stage.

A huge thank you to Mr Stevenson for his leadership and to all the staff who supported rehearsals, costumes, and staging. Most importantly, well done to all of our performers—you were amazing, and we are so proud of your hard work and dedication. What a wonderful way to end the year on a high!

Harvest Time in the School Garden!

This afternoon, our students had the joy of harvesting some of the fresh fruit and vegetables growing in our school garden from our Sodexo plants, with a little help from Grani Pat!

Among the highlights was a giant cucumber, proudly picked straight from our veg patch. The children were amazed at its size and enjoyed a refreshing slice of the homegrown produce – straight from plant to plate!

It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to see where their food comes from and to experience the rewards of growing their own fruit and vegetables. A big thank you to Sodexo for supporting our school with the plants and to Grani Pat for guiding and supporting the children through this lovely hands-on experience.

A Sweet Summer Fair Surprise from our School Chef!

We are delighted to share a special treat prepared by our talented School Chef Stacey – a homemade Oreo Gateaux, lovingly made for our Summer Fair Raffle taking place tomorrow!

Stacey, who works with Sodexo, has poured creativity and care into crafting this indulgent cake, which features rich chocolate, Oreo biscuits, and swirls of creamy goodness – perfect for any dessert lover! One lucky raffle winner will get to take home this show stopping prize.

A huge thank you to Chef Stacey for going above and beyond to support our school community—and for making our Summer Fair even more delicious!

This morning, the Year 2 children from Mrs Tomlinson’s and Miss Williams’ classes set off on a cheerful walk to Flixton Girls School to take part in an exciting Cricket Festival, led by the school’s Sports Leaders. The children had a fantastic time developing their cricket skills through fun and active sessions. They showed great enthusiasm, teamwork and energy throughout the morning!

After their return walk back to school, everyone enjoyed some refreshing ice lollies – a well-deserved treat to cool down after a busy and sunny day of sport. Well done, Year 2!

Girls’ Football Team shine at Trafford Girls Euros Tournament

On Monday, our brilliant Girls’ Football Team proudly represented Denmark in the Trafford Girls Euros Tournament held at Flixton Girls School.

The team put on an impressive performance in their group matches – winning two games and drawing one. We would like to highlight that beyond the scores, what stood out most was the way they played with determination, teamwork and great respect for their opponents. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Acre Hall, both on and off the pitch. Their positive attitude and sportsmanship were a credit to our school.

The girls will return for the next round of group games next week, where they will be playing for a spot in the semi-finals and potentially the finals. We wish them the very best of luck! Well done, girls you have made us proud!
